Description

It was Korea. It was 1950. It was war. And the wildly irreverent doctors and nurses of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H) were three miles from the front lines. While they skillfully tended those affected by the horrors of war, they also freely indulged in pranks, indiscretions and more than a few martinis. Forging friendships that would last a lifetime, they brought hope and humor to everyone they served. Enjoy now all 11 seasons of the hilarious, award-winning hit television show including the record-breaking series finale of this true television classic!

  • My favorite show

I love this show and grew up with it. I bought the DVDs when they came out one season at a time six months apart. It took me five and a half years to get all 11 seasons!! I even wore out a few seasons and rebought them. Then much to my delight I was able to buy the whole series on iTunes. I see an episode or 4 almost every day. My complaint: some episodes are not the way they originally appeared. They are the sindicated versions. Example: originally, season 5 opener ( Bugout) was one episode, not two. Now missing involves the very funny trip to Rosie’s—stopping the convoy traffic and Hawkeye carrying Radar(“Strangulated eyelids”). Also, when the colonel is the chopper, hungry, and tells chopper pilot he can’t take his last banana— the pilot has a giant bunch of bananas! My biggest complaint however is that when the Apple TV app gets to these episodes, it skips what is now Bugout part 1 and goes to Bugout part two. Furthermore, if you use the search function within Apple TV app to see part one, then two, it will refer you to HULU of all things, to see their version of part two, which I do not subscribe nor even have the app downloaded! I bought this series! NOT a HULU subscription! C’mon Sparky at I corp HQ-Seoul, Radar will trade you a couple of jeep batteries, Klinger will help get you a three day pass in Tokyo, Hawkeye and BJ will (steal and) give you a jar of Winchester’s caviar, Sgt. Rizzo will make you his famous pig’s feet and hog jowls—SOMETHING!!! One more thing: after Season 11, the DVDs feature two reunion programs as extras. One is after twenty years from the start and is narrated by Shelley Long. The other is a thirty year reunion from the date of the pilot episode and is narrated by Mike Farrell ( BJ Hunnicut). This one is especially good. It would be great if they were part of the iTunes version. One final plea: what would it take to put out “Aftermash” and “W*a*l*t*e*r” onto DVD and iTunes. Maybe they werent that great but they were a part of the story. Many , many people would buy it to complete the history of Mash. I never even got the chance to see most of the “Aftermash” episodes.

This is my all time favorite show and have watched every episode at least 4-5 dozen times. The fact that this show is still popular now and among fans both young and old is a testament to the writing, acting and the chemistry between the cast. Before I leave let me say this “Ladies and Gentlemen take my advice pull down your pants and slide on the ice”
  • Wrong aspect ratio!

The TV show has been cropped so you loose about 2 inches of the top and bottom of the picture. It’s like looking at half the Mona Lisa. Ridiculous! I will be requesting a refund.
  • A classic

Mash is a timeless classic. The laugh track is stuck in that era, though.

MASH has been remastered in beautiful HD glory. The original 35mm film was rescanned and each individual episode was rebuilt with stunning graphics and beautiful color. Great care was taken in cropping the image for full wide screen 16:9 ratio. There are no heads cropped off and it is nice to see the great quality of the work of the new editors. This will allow an over 40 year old show find a new generation. Yes it has a laugh track, which is how it aired on CBS. Yes it’s not how it was originally intended to be seen, being that 4:3 is what was prevalent in the 70s. I’m thankful it was remastered. Standard def shows look terrible on new TV’s. So this is a truly modern beautiful MASH. A few mistakes were made, the black and white episode was in color, a theme song was wrong on one season. But when purists pointed out the issues they were corrected. What a great job! What a beautiful transfer. For those that dismiss it, because it no longer standard definition in a 4:3 in a square, I say you are snobs. This is very well done. What a heckuva job! Wow!
