Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), son and heir to Los Angeles' largest newspaper fortune, is a rich, spoiled playboy who has been happy to maintain a direction-less existence. When his father James Reid (Tom Wilkinson) dies, Britt meets an impressive and resourceful company employee, Kato (Jay Chou). They realize that they have the resources to do something worthwhile with their lives and finally step out of James Reid's shadow. Kato builds the ultimate weapon, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car with every weapon imaginable and Britt decides that in order to be heroes, they will pose as villains. With the help of Britt's new secretary, Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), they learn that the chief criminal in the city is named Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz). He has united all the gangs under his power, and he quickly sees that the Green Hornet is a direct threat to the prosperous criminal underworld he controls.

  • Terrible, just terrible.

This film insults everything that has to do with the franchise.
  • Could’ve Been Better

It really could have, but this film fails due to it’s interpretation of the main character. The Lone Ranger tried to do something similar, but in the end at least succeeded in making the film’s namesake competent. That is not the case here, the Green Hornet is an idiot all the way through. I don’t mind the comedy, though it’s probably inappropriate for the character, but they shouldn’t have made GH the village idiot. Such a shame too, it could’ve been a great film, even with Seth Rogan in the lead
  • Astonishingly stuipd

This film is the alcohilic frat boy about to flunk out version of the Adam West Batman. It was written by ten year olds for an eight year old audience. It is so moronic and so self-obsessed that it is impossible to imagine why this project was not immediately shelved when the script reached its final draft. It is also impossible to imagine that the studio would approve the total loser that the title character is. It is an object lesson on how not to make a superhero movie. If you want to see how this movie could have been made, you should take a look at Ant Man. When you compare the two films (each about a likable loser who gets his act together) the Green Hornet is a totaly embarassment. Thank goodness someone out there knows how to make a good superhero movie.

Got this on DVD because I am a Jay Chou fan. I knew his music first. My favorite one of his MV's is Piano Sorrow.

Okay, I may be biased because Jay is also extremely good looking, but I loved him in this movie. I wish the movie were just about Kato.

Who and why chose Seth Rogen for this role???? Just completely destroyed ANY notion of goodness that his movie might have had… Horrible and just plain a waste of time and any money spent making it - and by those of us spending hard-earned change for them to try and recoup their losses… OMG horrible :(
