A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

  • Hmmm…

The acting was horrible. It wasn’t anti-cop, it was pro-karma, even the dirty Black cop got judged. The acting was horrible. The ending I liked. Wait for the 99-cent rental, no rush here.
  • A nice Saw side story

This is NOT as bad as everyone is saying. Chris Rock is a surprisingly competent dramatic actor and the movie is just enough like Saw to satisfy that itch. No, it is not a numbered Saw film, just a fun one off movie set in that universe.

Nauseating, hype-violent, disturbing and completely pointless. As a friend…avoid.

  • I, for one, thought it was awesome (with some flaws, to be fair)👌🏻

This is another example of the old saying “don’t believe everything you read”. It’s different from all the previous installments including plot and character development, place setting, narrative, everything seems to be centered almost exclusively on the cops in this one, the canon’s a little unbalanced, very little of what happened in the previous films is ever really mentioned, the killer in this isn’t affiliated with Jigsaw in anyway, and I don’t even remember anyone ever even saying “Jigsaw”. It was just that one scene where everyone was circled around on the table with boards covered in evidence standing right behind them trying find something to go on. On one of them, there was a picture John Kramer, which one of them called out to, but didn’t actually give a name to. It was a new take! The filmmakers took the franchise, stripped it down, and did something original with it. I’d hardly call THAT a three and a half star movie! Now I don’t think it deserves five stars though. Being true to the original is also important, and these did branch out a little too far at some points. But films cannot be judged based on ones that came before them!
  • It was good

I was entertained It was a different take if somewhat predictable but I love the meaning / story behind it not only that but it sets things up for the next chapter if there is one
  • Chris Rock?

Thank you, but no thank you.
  • Worst movie of the decade

  • It’s a good movie but a bad SAW movie

    By Sikki322
It just comes off as a crappy knock off saw movie. If you can get past that it’s decent, I’ll buy it just to add to the collection but I’d wait for it to go on sale
  • Good but not comparable

    By Zombie396
It was good but compared to the other saw movies it was a lot different. All new actors, no cut scenes with John just a completely different movie worth watching 100% but you can watch it in theaters for a fraction of the price to rent it. Also I think it may be on HBO MAX. Don’t let the other reviewers ruin it by saying it’s bad because you will most likely enjoy it if you have an open mind.
