Description

When San Francisco Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: an Alcatraz inmate who died over 30 years ago. Once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) tries to impede her investigation, Madsen turns to Alcatraz expert Dr. Diego “Doc” Soto (Jorge Garcia), to help her piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. By delving into Alcatraz history, government cover-ups and Rebecca’s own heritage, the team will ultimately discover that this reappearance is only a small part of a much larger, more sinister present-day threat. For while he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that this fugitive won’t be the last to reappear from Alcatraz.

  • Intriguing Premise for TV

The premise for the show is something that grabs your attention due to its connection to a historical piece mixed with a creative idea. However, the spread of the main plot throughout the season causes for a repetitive sub-plot for each episode. Fortunately, the focus on the inmates helps keep the show entertaining. That is actually the best part of the show's only season, the amount of entertaining guest actors portraying the fictional inmates.

I watched all the episodes and loved each and everyone of it. Each episode doesn't waver in momentum which keeps the audiences at the edge of their seats. The actors played their roles at a very high level, both main and guests alike. They are so good that you can't help but be drawn to each and every character. I was really hoping for a second season but I've read from somewhere that the show got cancelled, which is a shame. I really hope they will resurrect this show, so much was left unanswered and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth when you end the season with the death of the lead character. The death of Rebeca Madsen ( Sarah Jones ) raises a lot of questions, that alone is worthy of second season. Will she come back to life, does she have the recessive genes that will activate after experiencing that kind of trauma? So many left unanswered and this show is deserving of a season 2 and more if it's up to the audience.

This was am amazing show, I'm so disappointed in the network for pulling the plug. I will happily re-watch the one and only season and no doubt, at the end, ill be back to wishing that it got picked up for a second season.

A great show, maybe my favorite. It has a wonderful plot, interesting characters, mostly, and marvelous mysteries, the greatest episode being Webb Porter, I wish i could watch it all day everyday, though characterization goes weak, as does the plot, and the mysteries go wimpy in the last two episodes and don't pick up again until the last 5 minutes of the entire series. I would strongly recommend it to any sci fi fan, criminal drama fan, or anybody really. If more people gave it a chance, I'm positive it would've been a far more popular tv show, and a great addition to itunes libraries everywhere.

I agree that it would be a risk to become intrigued with another Fox series after seeing one so compelling as Alcatraz being cancelled. It also agree that it was very well written and performed. The cast owns quite impressive. I would have loved to at least see the story be completed. Shame on you, Fox.
