The British sitcom by which all other British sitcoms must be judged, Fawlty Towers withstands multiple viewings, is eminently quotable ("don’t mention the war"), and stands up to this day as a jewel in the BBC's comedy crown. Fawlty Towers was famously inspired by a seethingly rude hotel proprietor John Cleese encountered whilst away filming with the Monty Python team. Unwittingly, Donald Sinclair became the blueprint for Basil Fawlty, the epitome of frustrated, social climbing middle-Englanders. Now digitally remastered.

  • Classic BBC comedy.

    By J_marshall1967
This is one of the best comedy shows ever produced by BBC. Was disappointed they didn’t keep making it but when you see declining quality of other shows then it’s best they ended it when still funny. Love they have kept its original aspect ratio and not stretched it to fit modern widescreen TVs. I do hope that they do not edit these or remove episodes due to snowflakes who are offended by everything. If you don’t like it then don’t watch it and go complain about modern shows not ones made before you where even born
  • Uncut?

Hi are these episodes the cut ones or the uncut ones ?
  • Bright at times, very poor ar others

Why is it funny that someone develops a homosexual crush on Manuel? Why do guests look on in amazement as Manuel seems to 'love' Basil? Time to bury this. I know that nothing was meant, but time has moved on. That's not even including reference to words such as 'bint'. Forty years out of date.

  • Badly Remastered

    By Henry 3 Dogg
This is some of the greatest British comedy ever made, but sadly only existed on video tape. This version has been remastered to the point where it is far worse than it was before they remastered it. Actually hard to watch. The unremastered version is also available on this site and I strongly recommend it compared to this mess.

  • Wonderful comedy

I rate this comedy in the top three of all time, it just cracks me up every time, John Cleese of course is a master of comedy, up there with the likes of Tony Hancock and all the greats. I’ll just say this, if you can’t laugh at this wonderful comedy you have no sense of humour.
