Jeff Bridges won an Academy Award® for his role as the richly comedic, semi-tragic, romantic anti-hero, Bad Blake, in the debut feature film, Crazy Heart, from writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road, and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (two-time Golden Globe®-nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man’s crazy heart. Crazy Heart won two Academy Awards® for Best Actor and Best Original Song.

Jeff Bridges plays a terrific job playing a west side country musican with a drinking problem and his character ark is so pushed and forced he shouldn't got an oscar for his worthy and brave performence yet.

Watched it because I had nothing better to do - loved it!
  • Wrong Movie Title

    By I. M. Confused
I don't get the title. A better one would have been to use the lead character's stage name . . . "BAD!"

    By Person of Few Words
Few actors are born to play a role. Jeff Bridges is an exception. He is born to play many roles. His acting is so convincing, which is what makes his movies so great. Crazy Heart is definetely one of his all-time best performances.

  • Beautifully made film.

Great films still get made, and Crazy Heart is certainly one of them. A good story well told is always unforgettable and fills your heart, like a sweet song. This movie sings not too quiet or unnecessarily loud; Crazy Heart plays a movie of rock bottom hopelessness and a the spark of some redemption on the horizon, in the most subtle, perfect notes.

    ... The real thing.
  • Great music and fresh performances!

Bridges and Gyllenhaal had solid and interesting chemistry in this quiet gem of a movie, that never wavered from keeping me totally absorbed. I am not a fan of country music for the most part, but enjoyed the heck out of the excellent songs and their rather stunning delivery by Bridges, who could have a new career any time he wants it. Roger Love, his voice coach, deserves the credit Bridges gave him when he accepted the Oscar.
