One of the best classic Christmas Carols ever made. I also love the one with George C. Scott too. God Bless you all, and have a Merry Christmas, while watching this one.

Just curious For years iTunes was saying they are coming out with a Colorized Version, I wonder if it’s ever going to happen.

I love this version but was very disappointed that Apple shortened it. you'll note it's only 1 hour and 8 minutes. some scenes are missing - not great for 14 bucks! a disappointment!
  • Get The Alistair Sim Version!

Though this is a fine version of the story, iTunes must get the 1951 film starring Alistair Sim. That's the best!

I'd take the Scrooge, the Fred, and the Cratchet family from this movie and put them in place of the ones in the Alistair Sim version of "Scrooge", which I think is from 1951 - and unfortunately not available on iTunes. The characters in this version are excellent, but the story in the Sim version is better and has more of the material from the book. I think that would be the best version of A Christmas Carol/Scrooge. But since i can't do that I'll stick with this one as the best available IMHO. It gets the spirit of the book right and that's what's most important after all.

This version is my all time favorite. I have seen most of the newer versions but this is the one I return to each holiday season. Though not entirely true to Dickens work it best portrays the message he was sending to his readers. A wonderful portrayal of Scrooge by Reginald Owen. Gene Lockhart and Terry Kilburn are excellent in their roles. A heartwarming film.

I first caught this wonderful film on cable while I was staying with my Grandma in New Jersey many years ago. At the time I hadn't yet seen either the Alistair Sim version, my #1, and the Disney version #2, starring a motion-captured Jim Carrey was 20 years away. Reginald Owens plays a great version of Scrooge, and to those saying only 69 minutes? Study your film history: most movies of the 30's were under 90 minutes. Highly recommended!

I have viewed this movie numerous times since childhood. It is still my favorite version of the movie. Reginald Owen is an excellent Scrooge who brings out the "bah" in "Bah humbug"! After I watched it this last time, rented the book on iBooks. I have forgotten how many times I have read it. A true holiday tradition.
  • This is not the version to see

Hokey and way edited from original story. The sets are nice but the one to see is the one with Alistair Simms from 1951. Produced in England.

Only 1 hour and 9 minutes? Are you kidding me? Don't bother!
