One of my favorite movies. So much going on. So heartfelt, on many levels. You must watch this movie!
  • My Holiday Feel Good Movie

Wow. My favorite holiday movie. It’s real, amazingly awkward and self-assuring. This is a movie I can watch multiple times. From beginning to end, it’s hard not to find the Stone family lovable and irritating. As the movie unfolds, it’s hard to turn away. Bravo to this all star cast. SJP is raw and you can help but root for her. A+!
  • Disjointed

This wasn’t what I thought it would be. It’s not a flowing script. I personally didn’t think it was that good especially after reading other reviews. 👎
  • I Laughed Hard and had tears; loved it!

I was surprised to thoroughly enjoy this movie! Perfect holiday movie if you want to laugh and cry. Excellent words of wisdom, too: "You've got a freak flag; you just don't fly it."
  • One of the best Christmas movies

We wish they'd make more like this one. Writing is tight. Very original. Great cast. We watch this one every year! Highly recommend!!!

1st, there are enough scenes and lines to make it worthwhile even if you don't appreciate the film as a whole. 2nd, if you think you'll like it, you almost certainly will. I thought it was quite enjoyable the 1st time. McAdams & Danes are beautiful. Wilson is always witty & Keaton always delivers. But the more I see it, I realize what I originally thought were flaws weren't really detrimental to the film at all, or at least less so. For me, this usually happens the other way around. It's not perfect but it's closer to 5 stars than 4. I think it's safe to assume the haters of this movie probably expected to see a straight up comedy or aren't generally a fan of the dramadies genre. Yes, it's got some sentimental sap, but it's far from forced or over the top, and it enhances the film a lot (unless you aren't a fan of a bit of sappiness to begin with). I've never been a SJP fan but she actually becomes likable, and her transformation is clever and well done. How can you not lighten up being around a character played by Wilson? Casting her in this role is spot on, and the casting in general is right on the money. The scene where she gives Keaton her Christmas gift is priceless. (This comes from someone whose favorite movies are The Godfather, Gladiator & Animal House). I've never taken the time to write a review before but I felt the need to speak up about this film and defend it. I hope the few who actually read this find it helpful.
