"Crime is the disease. Meet the cure." First came Rocky, then he was Rambo, and now Sylvester Stallone ("The Specialist," "Cliffhanger," "Tango & Cash") plays his toughest character yet as a police officer dirtier than Harry, who must protect a beautiful witness from a cult of serial killers. Explosive action from the director of "Rambo: First Blood Part II."

  • Love it!

I love this movie and rewatch it every year. The serial killer is creepy, the actress is stunning, Stallone is hot, and I think it's a great story. It's the perfect '80s thriller set in LA. People who wrote that this was a bad movie must only like modern fake spider-man movies. If you love '80s movies this one is at the top. So good!

Crime is a disease, met the cure! So reads the movie tag line. Well, this is definitely a case of the cure being worse than disease!
  • Great Christmas Movie

Shows what Christmas looked like in LA in the 80’s
  • One of his worst

Next to "Rhinestone", this is Sly's worst movie he ever made. It came shortly after Rocky IV where he got to know this movies co-star very well, and even had a fling with her and I guess part of the fling comes thise awful mess of a movie. So full of chiche's and cheesy one liners, it's a joke. Not much of a plot, but Sly gets to have his bedroom scene with Ms Neilsen so I think that was all that mattered in this movie. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. Whole movie was awful.

Trivia: Stallone wrote the screenplay for this film after he was dropped from playing the lead in Beverley Hills Cop. The critics see this as a failed attempt to create an 80s version of Dirty Harry. I think it's a successful attempt to do just that. There are actually some actors from Dirty Harry in the film, playing somewhat similar roles. To be fair, unlike Dirty Harry, Cobra plays out like more of a B-movie, and it doesn't have the moral ambiguity. It seems to me like they were trying to create a film version of a graphic novel, and if it had in fact been based on a graphic novel, people would understand that and it would probably be considered a classic. The bad guys in the film are almost a caricature of pure evil, and Stallone has an almost comic-book appearance - he wears black sunglasses even at home, a wool trench coat even though it's L.A., toothpick in mouth and a license plate that spells "AWESOM 50".

  • Classic Stallone

This is not Sly's best picture, but it is certainly one of his most noteworthy roles in a film. The film was initially intended to kickstart a third series of films for him to star in (next to Rocky and Rambo), but such never came to pass. Its still a fun film, and seeing Stallone as a hard boiled cop is actually quite intriguing. Overall, not bad stuff.
