Description

Brendan Fraser and Jet Li star in the action-packed adventure The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor! When a 2,000-year-old curse is broken, a ruthless dragon emperor (Li) comes back to life with a diabolical plan to enslave the world. Mankind’s only hope against him and his legions of undead warriors lies with the courageous O’Connell family, who chase him from the dangerous catacombs of China, to the icy Himalayas and beyond. Featuring intense battle sequences, breathtaking visual effects and extraordinary creatures, it’s a thrilling journey that Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times calls “the best in the series!”

Every movie series if it goes on long enough has that one movie that should not have been made. With this movie you have found that one for the mummy movie series

  • A high-budget mess, with a lousy script.

This is a big budget film with a terrible script that mostly involves running around, yelling, shooting stuff up and stopping the movie when someone calls lunch. It reminds me of the shorthand way in which a child plays with his toys, jumping from one scenario to another, throwing in random action scenes, and simply pulling whatever is needed out of a hat without substantiation. (Let's start with a car chase! Where is the bad guy going? Who cares?) We need a completely random macguffin to advance the plot. How about a jewel and a dagger (Done!) We need to cross fifty miles of an impassable mountain range in minutes before someone dies. (Done!) We need the bad guy to overcome magical defenses from the most powerful witch in history – and in less than fifteen seconds. (Done!) We need to produce another macguffin out of nowhere just because we don't know what to do next. (Done!) We need a fight scene in a room with gears and no discernible purpose. (Done!) We need random arguments thrown in whenever there is a hole. (Done!) We need to knock off the bad guy. (Done!) In short, the film is a very expensive mess - assorted bits of whatever, thrown in to a basket, shaken, then dumped on the rug in random order and called a script. Rachel Weiss was very smart to blow off this film. It is an embarrassment.

I won't bore you with a long winded speech, so I'll just give the main points: Evie replacement, looked NOTHING like the original actress. Actor playing Alex, Brendan Fraiser's son, looked more like his brother (i.e. too old for role). CGI was even worse than the second Mummy movie. Too many subplots, not enough depth to storyline. Wooden acting along with barely known actors, with a stilted script. Either way, Jonathan's wit and an appearance from Jet Li couldn't save this film.

I was very disappointed its not even in the same concept as the first and second. The first and second movie was in Egypt and this movie was in China! It didn't even have Rachel playing " Evie"!

I loved the first and the second movies, but this was awful. Rachel Weisz was replaced by someone who could not pull off the character of Evie. She and Brendan did not have anywhere near the same chemistry as he and Rachel did. It was disappointing. The movie was also not even set in Egypt, and the "mummy" was not Imhotep, the mummy in both previous movies. I assume, if I had watched this as a standalone movie, instead of expecting something amazing based on the previous movies, it would have been a decent movie. But to fans of The Mummy 1 and 2, it's a let down.

I haven't even seen the full movie yet and looks worse than the older ones. They took away a main actress. You can't do that
