Description

Greed. Compassion. Heroism. These three seemingly disparate human traits collide explosively in this unconventional, ironic, action-packed adventure. At the end of the Gulf War, a small group of American soldiers plots to steal a huge cache of gold reputedly hidden somewhere near their Iraqi desert base. After finding a map that they believe will lead them to the treasure, the men embark on a treacherous journey filled with unexpected events--a trip that dramatically forces them to confront their fears and flaws, while drastically altering their lives forever.

This movie surprised me. It's not a typical war movie. There's plenty of action, but it's deeper. The characters are really interesting. Highly recommended.
  • A TRUE CLASSIC

Originally saw this years ago, and seen it many times since, but just noticed it under a selection of Clooney films here and it brought back a flood of memories. It fires all all cylinders and on every level. The story and pacing, the cast and their performances, and then there is that David O Russell touch of magic which back then we couldn't exactly put our finger on WHAT exactly that was, but a handful of brilliant movies like this since from him have proven exactly what that is, it's a David O Russell movie, that's why it is! If you have never seen this drop everything and do yourself a favor and watch it. Don't rent it though, buy it, you'll want it in your digital library.
  • Excellent typewriter Overdub, inspires one to write something

Add in your own character names and follow up outcomes at the end of the film. No in film titles , just a typewriter overdub. You may will enjoy the film but realize that it doesn't give you a sense of connection to the film. I stopped it when I heard the typewriter at the end of the film; who cares for moving still shots with no identity? Itunes drag leg quality assurance system for the consuming consumer, here in brilliant form.

I just watched this film again having seen in before many years ago. The cinematography is extraordinary. What struck me was how well David O'Russell understood the issues and was able to convey them both blatantly and subtly. Three Kings is a lighthanded, intelligent war film and political commentary.

A strange yet brilliant mix of goofy humor, cynicism, and dead seriousness, Three Kings stands out as one of the most interesting war comedies around.

Captures the moment, plot is great, characters are structured well....but I cam help but to fast forward some scenes in this movie. Some scenes seemed to last forever and you wonder, what was the point in that? But, still a great movie to enjoy. Worth Renting & Buying!

Excellent cast, effects, story, combat, emotional intensity and wisecracks. I thought this movie was ansolutly worthwhile and great. A must see for those who like action with a little comedy.
  • Just weird

It seems like the director could not to decide whether to make a tragic war story, an action film or a comedy. The movie is a weird mix of an Oceans movie and Jarhead. While the cast is stacked, the character development is poor and plot line predictable. I am just left with a puzzled feeling after watching this travesty.
  • Absurd. Partly Entertaining.

This movie diverges from reality to a degree that makes it farcical. Still, the first half of the movie is at least entertaining, until it takes a slow and mindless path toward an obvious (yawn) conclusion.
