The true story behind the murders that many crime scholars believe to be the most perplexing series of unsolved crimes in modern history comes to the screen in chilling detail as Fight Club and Seven director David Fincher steps behind the camera to tell the mysterious tale of the infamous Zodiac killer. A relentless serial killer is stalking the streets of the San Francisco Bay Area, leaving citizens locked into a constant state of panic and baffled authorities scrambling for clues. Though the killer sadistically mocks the detectives by leaving a series of perplexing ciphers and menacing letters at the crime scenes, the investigation quickly flat-lines when none of the evidence yields any solid leads. As two detectives remain steadfast in their devotion to bringing the elusive killer to justice, they soon find that the madman has control not only over their careers, but their very lives as well.

Screenplay was dragged out, making for an overly long movie. "Zodiac" should have been no longer than 50 or 60 minutes.

I have a hard time reviewing such movies as this is not my kind of fare really, but yet it was done well. From a movie-making angle, it’s a 4 or 5 star movie. If you’re up for this kind of material, you’re gonna love this movie. I was forced to watch this with my family and while I could appreciate that it was a well crafted movie, I don’t care much for storylines such as this (wacko killer and cops chasing) and doubly so when it’s a true story. For example, I appreciate the storytelling and movie-craft of Silence of the Lambs, but I really don’t care for that kind of story. There’s enough wacked-out murder and violence in the world that I don’t tend to want to watch a movie where that is the focus of the story. So, if you liked Silence of the Lambs, I think you’d likely love this. I’m giving it 4 stars because I shouldn’t penalize it for what I don’t like - I think it was a 4 or 5 star crafted movie.

In this thrilling mystery on finding the Zodiac killer, there's really nothing that I could find that was flawed. Other than the fact that the actual killer was never really brought to justice due to unfortunate circumstances. But hey, that's not movie's fault! Every single actor that was in the movie portrayed their role as if they were really the person they were playing to be. David Fincher is just one of those directors you can't miss out on, except for that once Alien abomination that he made. Yuck! Anyways great film and I most definitely recommend it! Two thumbs up.
