Description

    When a movie or film is based on a particular book, then the natural instinct is to believe the novel is better. This is true in the case of Patriot Games as well, even though Harrison Ford does a superb job of filling the role of analyst extraordinare Jack Ryan. The acting is, for the most part, top notch. But the subtle changes from Clancy's magnificent work are enough to degrade the intricacy of the ultimate plot. Despite all this, Patriot Games is an excellent movie of your a fan of the Ryan series. After this and Clear and Present Danger, you won't be able to imagine anyone else as Jack Ryan.

    IM NOT SURE HOW PEOPLE COULD COMPARE PATRIOT GAMES AND THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER.TO ME THEY ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FILMS.SURE THE CHARATERS ARE THE SAME.THAT ASIDE,THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FILMS EVER AND HAVING PATRIOT GAMES COMING AFTER IT ADDS TO THE FRANCHISE WITH A NEW AND FRESH PERSPECTIVE.

    Okay, I'm always going to be biased towards the books a particular movie is based upon. However, this movie will definitely grab you by the throat. The substitution of Ford for Baldwin was an excellent choice, although I did like Baldwin as Ryan as well. It's just that Ford has, well, the qualities of what I expect from Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, right down to the ability to partray a flash temper the is hidden deep in the shy persona normally displayed. This one is perfect both as a political thriller and as an action-adventure, and parents can relate to both Drs. Ryan (Ford and Archer), as they struggle to do what any parent or spouse would do to protect their families under the worst conditions. Get the book, the audio book, and the movie. It's all good.
