Heartfelt, brilliantly acted. So effective at conveying the mood and uncertainty of a complex, bewildering time. May it never return.
  • Musical Excellence, awesome soundtrack!

A wonderful film with great acting and an amazing soundtack by Van Morrison. The saxaphones sounded great and Sir Morrison's music was perfect for a film on Belfast/Northern Ireland. I was attracted to this movie by the music, and I'm glad I took the time to watch. Ive never spent this much money on a rental before, but Im satisfied with the money well spent. The film explores the suffereings and challenges of a very difficult time in Belfast. It is sad to see the hatred between Protestants and Catholics, but the film displays a message of hope and enduring love, especially in Buddy's family. My favorite part is the sign at the end of street where story takes place: "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." Thank God that Christ came into this world, because as this movie clearly shows, humans have a sin problem, and Jesus Christ is the answer to that problem. Merry Christmas to all, Catholics or Protestant, or otherwise. May we choose to love our neighbor, as different as we may be.

Great movie. Kenneth Branagh wrote and directed! Great cast! A simple yet all important story about a family trying to survive in Belfast in 1969. Mainly through the eyes of a little boy.
