A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

  • Awesome!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the style of this movie. I admittedly haven’t seen the 80’s adaptation, but this one I felt was very good. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea you just can’t please everyone, but certainly was mine!
  • Interesting modern take on Dune…

Always nice to see how the evolution of filmmaking plays on filming Dune. IMHO, the best things about this version are the cinematography and special effects. IMHO, the movie lacks the depth and details that the first movie and miniseries had in contrast to the actual book. So many details were left out that it leaves someone unfamiliar with the book, the original movie or miniseries, completely in the dark. Since I am a fan, I’ll be looking forward to part 2. Sure hope they do a better job. I could have done a better job producing and directing this movie lol!

Never read the book, so I can't be distracted by whether it was or wasn't faithful to the author. But I see where they're going with this, part I, and I like it. I like it a lot.

This movie is complicated and I understand if people don’t like it if they are stupid. The acting is great. I feel like this could be the next Star Wars.

Perhaps people who weren't alive when the Original Dune came out don't get it, but this movie really falls short for fans of the original dune because people who enjoyed the original Dune and the Sci-Fi Version of Dune were expecting the best aspects of both of those to be manifested in this film, plus this director's take on the book encompassing all of the technology that is now available. In my opinion, this film fails to meet those expectations. And, in my opinion, the choice of the main character was not good because unlike the Paul played within the original and sc-fi versions, this character appears to be a child and not a man. Big Disappointment for me. To wait 30 years for this is just truly disappointing.
  • Extremely boring and slow

Great cinematography, boring story, ultra slow pace. We abandoned it after 50 minutes…

It’s an exceptional interpretation of the book, representing the restrained and calculated affect of humans at this point in a distant future; very well captures the spirit, tone, and theme of the novel. But as always, the book is better, so go read it!
  • Dune-tastic!

I don’t know how many times I watched the “original” Dune movie. It was dark and very different for sci-if. This Dune (2021) just rocks. It’s more like a longer version of the original. Better visuals and effects. You’ll become immersed in the world. There were some lines from the script that didn’t fit with the atmosphere of the film though. Action is great. Story is great. Visuals are great.
