  • Deja vu style

    By Vincent NYMIA
The acting is good but that’s about it. When the style of having different scenes one after the other that don’t make sense but come together at the end came out it was original but now it is tired. Put that aside it is another story of an old man who is realising that he is losing it…
  • Highly recommended!!

Anthony Hopkins is amazing while supporting actors were exceptional!
  • Depressing

Very slow moving ….very depressing. Low budget! I can’t believe I just wasted my Saturday night watching this ….disappointed. Don’t waste your money renting it.
  • This is the best representation of dementia since Michael Haneke’s “Amour” 2012

    By BesBespayev
My old friend suffered from dementia, it was so agonising for him. My family tried so hard to help him, but no matter what, he still was feeling lonely in his own environment. This hypnotic masterpiece and Sir Anthony Hopkin’s haunting performance had brought these lost memories of mine. The structure of the film is very simple yet seems so complex. There are a lot of subtle details and when you’ll notice first changes in the environment, you’ll be creeped out. Performances are tour de force. The stylistic coldness is probably paying homage to Michael Haneke’s visceral masterpiece “Amour”, but the execution is different - it feels a bit theatrical, because the director is also the author of the book and the theatrical play on what’s it based. The poetic ending is hits you on another emotional level, because everything comes full circle and in the hardest of times everyone is in a need of a loving mother! 10/10 one of the best of this year!
  • Excellent but sad

  • Silver Lining in the midst of Pandemic Movie Mediocrity

    By George500
With just a couple of exceptions in this pandemic movie mediocrity, and no, Nomadland is not one of them, The Father comes and shines so bright it would compete in any year against any movie, thanks to the superv if not perfect perfomance by Sir Anthony Hopkins. His craft is undeniable, you will believe Mr. Hopkins is suffering dementia and forget it is the actual character the one going through the process. The script is wonderful, very well built, you will feel what a person in this situation feels. Rent away, you won't regret it.
  • Awful.

I was looking forward to watching and owning this film. I disliked this movie and regret purchasing it at full price.
  • Very well made!

Thought this movie was delivered in a sensitive way and did something really unique with perspectives that reflected the idea of dementia. Kind of brilliant actually.
  • Thoughtful and poignant

The Father is a poignant and clever drama, utilizing the extremely effective conceit of putting you inside the disoriented mind of a person suffering from Alzheimer’s. Anthony Hopkins is excellent, and the movie is beautiful and compelling.
