Jane Austen's beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending is reimagined in this delicious new film adaptation of Emma. Handsome, clever and rich, Emma Woodhouse (Thoroughbreds' Anya Taylor-Joy) is a restless "queen bee" without rivals in her sleepy little English town. In this glittering satire of social class, Emma must navigate her way through the challenges of growing up, misguided matches and romantic missteps to realize the love that has been there all along.

I had really looked forward to this movie. As someone else had mentioned, I too had fell asleep several times. Bland.
  • Insult to Jane Austen

Pretentious acting. Only good thing was the costumes and set design but everything else was lacklustre. Terrible script writing. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this one kids. Wish Apple offered a refund on such a poorly made film. I’m sooo glad at least I did not waste my money in the theatre.

I thought this would be a cute date night movie While the scenery and the leads are great actors the movie is slow and you can see where it’s going in the first few scenes ;(
  • Austen would be proud...

This film does a really good job—better than most others I’ve seen—of reflecting Jane Austen’s satirical tone in depicting Emma Woodhouse and England’s sometimes-preposterous society life of the 19th century. Major credit goes to Anya Taylor-Joy, too. She reflected the change in Emma’s character and outlook tremendously well. Really, the casting was good across the board. Highly recommended if you typically enjoy this type of period piece.
  • Wow that was a slow train to.....sorry, fell asleep.

How did this get rated so high? Beautiful cinematography- story fine but just too slow and not enough development. Yikes.
  • Refreshing

We really enjoyed this movie. Very well written and casted. Witty and refreshing. Nice to have adult comedy that’s not laden with obscenities. Loved it. Hope you will too.

  • Wow, terrible!

Emma was made awhile back with much better vision and authenticity- the character casting is poor, nothing is fresh-why make another film unless you have something new to uncover? its like rotten leftovers of a once okay meal! yuck!
  • Insufferable

Beautiful stately homes, nice countryside and fantastic costumes. Otherwise, pompous, heavy handed and way overdone.
  • Boring

I found this movie so boring that I fell asleep half way through! A waste of my time and money and I usually love these type of movies.
