Sam Mendes, the Oscar®-winning director of Skyfall, Spectre and American Beauty, brings his singular vision to this World War I epic. At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones' Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers—Blake's own brother among them.

The acting, the soundtrack, the suspense...it’s all sooooo good. The one shot makes you feel like your there and that the tension is real. I’m not sure how they did it but it is for sure a masterpiece.
  • Very Strange Tale - Obviously Fiction!

The film started off well, but as it progressed, there were just too many strange events that didn’t mesh with the timeline of the story (a critical aspect). I purchased the movie based on so many good reviews, thinking I would want to watch it again, but I was sorely misled by those reviews. Beautiful scenery, excellent camera work, but the story is so noticeably unbelievable, it’s not worth a second viewing. This is a disappointing work of fiction that attempts to be credible, but come midway through the film, it’s a miserable downhill failure to the finish line, biting off way more than any audience could possibly chew!

Don’t miss this Great War epic! It has a great soundtrack. It’s stunningly shot and choreographed from beginning to end and surprisingly emotional. It had great acting throughout. A classic to add to the pantheon of World War I movies. The 4K Dolby Vision is a treat!
