“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

This was a great movie if you like magical creatures and wizards in New York.i thought it was a great way to explain time before Harry Potter. This movie and fantastic beasts and where to find them the crimes of Grindawald fills in a lot of gaps, questions, and mystsries in Harry Potter.some violence and maybe cursing but a over all a great movie .🍿🍫🥜🥤🥨🌭🍔🍟🍕🥪🥗🌯🌮🥙🍬🍭🍩🍪
  • Great first installment.

My family went to see this in theaters back when it first came out. It was so worth it. We’ve watched all 8 Harry Potter films and thought this was a worthy prequel. Go check it out if you can.

An amazing movie! Not confusing, funny, adventurous, inspiring, interesting, tense, and emotional! Give it a shot! Won’t disappoint! ✊
  • Eddie RedMumble ruined it

    By JohnDoeSan
The film is completely ruined by Eddie RedMumble who is incapable of speaking loudly and clearly. No idea what half of his lines are since he just keeps mumbling on and on and on. Not gonna waste my money buying any more films with this “actor” in it.

I love the Harry Potter franchise, and this is a great prequel! Not a great cast, but they pull it off pretty well. Action scenes are very good. And, there are many great funny moments. Critics for once know what they are saying by giving this movie good reviews, because it is a great prequel to Harry Potter.
  • Fantastic!

Wow there sure are a lot of muggles on this board! Who let them in??? Ok when I saw this movie for the first time it left me cold. It wasn’t Harry Potter. Then I tried it again. The second time around I began to understand the magic. The third time around I was hooked. The movie is fantastic. The beasts are wondrous and beautiful. I would like to have a few of them myself. The cast is amazing and deep. Put Hogwarts down and move into Macusa. You will find amazing things!

I would’ve walked out of the theater if I didn’t have to give rides home to girlfriends seeing it with me. This movie is irredeemable.
  • A delightful view of the Potterverse

This is not a Harry Potter movie. Anyone going into it expecting the same tone as the Potter movies is going into it with a closed mind. It shares a universe, nothing more. There are references to the Potter chronology. There are references - many - to things that one will recognize from the books, from the original films. But it is NOT - nor is it marketed as - a Harry Potter film (you may note the absence of either noun in the title; it's a subtle hint). I keep harping on this due to the fact that I think the preponderance of the negative reviews are folks walking into this expecting more of Hogwarts. This is not that show. I WILL say that, if you are one of the eleventy-bajillion folks that watched their generartion age from a young teen fantasizing about an owl dropping off their invitation to a muggle adult (possibly now with kids of their own), you'll find this to be a refreshingly-fun revisit to a world and a mythos largely forgotten in the humdrum of daily life. It was cute, it was fun, and it was different. For Rowling's first foray into screenwriting, as well as her first serious return to the Wizarding World, it met my expectations. I'm anticipating watching the Crimes of Grinderwald tomorrow all the more now. If you're going into this with the same expectations you held for the Cursed Child, I suspect you may anticiapte disappointment. If you're walking into this with the desire to refresh your acquaintance with Rowling's craft, to bask in your nostalgia, and to expand your knowledge and surprise yourself with just how many of the inside references, nods, and winks you'd forgotten lay buried in your fond memories of a magical adventure that shaped your generation, then you may well find this to be as satisfying as I just did. I wish you the best from it.
