Not your average “aliens conquer earth” but still very awesome; one of the movies I call “hacking the heart”

I love everything about this movie. It blends science, spirituality and the human condition seamlessly. The soundtrack and scroe is haunting and it leaves me in tears every time.

This movie is a work of art. It’s the kind of movie that you need to watch 2 or 3 times to understand it all. It messes with your head in the best way possible. 6/5 stars.

It really gave me new insight on how people decide with what they are given. It showed how people handle those decisions. Some people embrace it, some run from it, and some resist it. Please watch this movie. I am really glad I had the opportunity to really watch and absorb this movie.

This is a great movie. A little terrible CGI in one part but everything was great.

He’s a scientist, and I can relate to that. (Prospective doctor/science fanatic/legal rule stickler) I see problems as roadblocks you must solve and move on with, and do everything in your power to do so. So when the end of this movie dropped boyyyyyyy I was mad. But I can’t give it one star. Linguistics is another fascination of mine and the acting, animation and science of it were really well crafted. But.... SPOILERZ AHEAD!!! ...The title character is given the opportunity of seeing her whole life in one day. The ability to prevent tragedies. (The thing doctors and scientists DREAM of) And yet, she lets her beloved daughter DIE FROM CANCER. She had the best possible way of getting early screening for that poor kid and refused. Instead, taking a shot with chemo, which appears to have failed due to the advanced stage of the disease. (Not just that, but chemo is an extremely uncomfortable experience.) In this context of knowing the future, this could be legally seen as medical negligence of a minor. And while common law says you need past reference to prosecute, I think aliens are good exception to this rule. Even judge Judy would agree with me.

...it just didn't deliver. Definitely a very good SciFi movie but for the story it wanted to tell, too short and the end is...SPOILER ALERT...not really what I expected or wanted. After you watch this movie, you are left with a bitter taste on your soul. You want to love it, the excitement is big, you enjoy the actual movie but when it ends, it just isn't what you expected it to be. Difficult to explain. Sad, this movie could have been so much more with 30 minutes more playing time and a more developed and thought through story. This is one of those movies you can enjoy watching ONCE...not again and again.

Close Encounters - Contact - Arrival. It seems about every 20 years they make a GREAT alien film that takes you in surprising directions. This is the most spiritual of the three.

Unexpected yet well executed

This movie is a huge let down. The movie was boring and only got interesting close to the end, I completely regret watching this.
