The drama in this film portrayed realistically, and appropriately - not your typical Hollywood over-the-top quick cuts, bad CGI and loud, dramatic, blaring action-hero orchestra music. It’s life-like drama without all the added fluff from pompous actors hamming it up for an Oscar. Hanks and Eckhart do a terrific job portraying how real life seasoned pilots and crew would react in such a dire situation: DO YOUR JOB - stay cool, assess the situation, choose the best options available. So life like, that they casted some of the actual captains and crew from the NYC boats that helped rescue the passengers. The only bad acting is from Laura Linney who plays Sully’s wife as whiney, drama-queen, self absorbed ditz. If she were really like that, Sully would have intentionally flown a plane into a mountain long ago.
  • And they tried really hard

But it was not my first choice. Nor my second or third........ The real story is better. They kind of dragged out the film a little bit long. Ran a lot of replay on the movie.
  • Great movie!

Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger is a real American Hero, he saved everyone onboard US Airways Flight 1549. I am a huge fan of Aviation and this is so far one of the best true story aviation movies that I've ever seen in my life because I love airplanes so much and this is such an incredible movie that is based on a real life incident. I saw this whole movie in theaters before I actually bought this movie. January 15, 2009 is never to be forgotten in aviation history since that is the day that a US Airways airplane has crashed into the Hudson River, the crash could've turned into a fatal disaster, it was not the case. Everyone onboard US Airways Flight 1549 actually survived because of Sullenberger's heroic efforts to land the plane safely into the Hudson River after the aircraft was struck by a bird strike on both engines at 2,800 feet after take off from New York La Guardia Airport as it was on it's routine flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. I even witnessed the US Airways Flight 1549 incident on the news while I was watching TV on January 15, 2009. The aircraft was carrying 155 people onboard while it was on it's way to North Carolina, but it was struck by a terrible mid-air disaster caused by a flock of birds.
